Greek Mythology: Neptune – Ποσειδώνας
For the ancient Greeks, Neptune was the god of the sea, the rivers and the springs. He was one of the twelve gods of Olympos .He was the son of Cronus and Rea and brother of Zeus. The ancient Greeks said that he was travelling to the sea with a golden chariot and dolphins swam around him. In a country like Greece, where the presence of the sea were important for the residents, it was natural for Poseidon, as god of the sea, to be one of the most important mythological deities for the ancient Greeks.
Για τους αρχαίους Έλληνες, ήταν ο θεός της θάλασσας, των ποταμών και των πηγών. Ήταν ένας από τους δώδεκα θεούς του Ολύμπου. Ήταν γιος του Κρόνου και της Ρέας και αδελφός του Δία. Οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες έλεγαν ότι ταξίδευε στη θάλασσα με ένα χρυσό άρμα ενώ γύρω του κολυμπούσαν δελφίνια. Σε μια χώρα όπως η Ελλάδα, που η παρουσία της θάλασσας ήταν σημαντική διαχρονικά για τους κατοίκους της , είναι φυσικό ο Ποσειδώνας, ως θεός της θάλασσας, να αποτελεί μια από τις σημαντικότερες μυθολογικές θεότητες για τους αρχαίους Έλληνες.
