Archaeological site of Vergina – Aeges
The archaeological site of Vergina is one of the most important archaeological sites in the entire Greece. Here were found many ancient royal tombs, among them the one that belongs to King Phillipos the second, father of Alexander the Great. Due to its extreme importance, in 1996 UNESCO announced that the specific monument is officially included in the prestigious catalogue of International Cultural Heritage.
Ο Αρχαιολογικός χώρος της Βεργίνας αποτελεί έναν από τους σημαντικότερους αρχαιολογικούς χώρους ολόκληρης της Ελλάδας. Εδώ ανακαλύφθηκαν αρχαίοι βασιλικοί τάφοι, ένας από τους οποίους ανήκει στον βασιλιά Φίλιππο τον Β, πατέρα του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου. Το 1996 η UNESCO ανακοίνωσε την ένταξη του αρχαιολογικού χώρου στον κατάλογο των Μνημείων Παγκόσμιας Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς, αναγνωρίζοντας τη σημαντική του αξία!
